Old and (still) writing

When I was about 20 and used to get a creative idea, I would just write it down and see where it went. Nowadays when I get an idea - when I'm NOT 20 - I think to myself "Why are you even writing?"

And it is a good question! Why AM I even writing? Well, I think that I write in an entertaining fashion, so I've always liked to write original stories. Before, I used to think a career in writing would be either in show business or the book business, but nowadays, blogs and websites allow for more material to be seen. This also allows for good networking, as well.

I figure that if there IS a writing industry out there, then why not keep at it if there is no harm.

And so I write. I used to write way before parenting. But Parenting seemed like a way to use my writing in a good way.

But I like to write all types of things and themes and genres. In fact, If I held a summer camp, I would help the kids write original stories.

Writing has become one of the reasons why I work towards becoming a teacher. I want to help teach kids to be effective communicators through writing. They may not have to be elaborate, but at least EFFECTIVE.

It is said that when you think about your value in the professional marketplace, you think about what you have to offer that stands out among others. For me, I think the 2 biggest traits to my value include my customer service (people interaction) and my writing. Although I have still not gained a career for my writing, my writing allows for many ideas to come into existence and see if they have any traction. It is one of the greatest stimulators and motivators in my life.
