The Kind Kitty

One day... a new family moved into their new home. They had one baby who was just old enough to crawl and also sit in a toddler chair. The baby watched as the parents carried in their personal items from the moving truck and into the home. They brought in big boxes and small boxes, little items and large items... and narrow items... and short items... and round items... and tall items... and furry items... and stinky items too. By the time they were done, the new house was filled with lots and lots of family items.

But later that night, they discovered a surprising item between some of the boxes -

It was a kitten!

A little furball - cutey - little - kitten.

And it just looked at the people. It just stared at them.

And didnt.

meow.

Just stared.

It was similar to a staring contest.

The Parents looked at each other and said "how'd that get in here?"

And when they looked back at the kitten, it was suddenly gone! It had dashed away quickly and through the back door. The Parents then realized that they must have left the back sliding door open.

They closed the sliding door. "That poor thing must have been scared." they said.

The next morning, the Parents started unpacking the boxes in order to organize and decorate their house.  The baby sat on the toddler chair and once again watched as the Parents moved items back and forth around the house.

Then suddenly, the baby started to cry.

"Uh oh, She must be hungry" The Parents said to each other. "We should make a bottle for her." The Parents began searching for the bottles, but had trouble finding them because there were so many unpacked items all over the house.

In the meantime... the baby continued to cry... louder and louder.

The Parents were now running around the house, wondering where the bottles could be!

And then the baby stopped crying. The Parents stopped searching for the bottles and walked over to the baby in her chair and saw that the little kitten - the little furball-cutey-little-kitten - had returned and was standing right in front of the baby.

Just staring at the baby.

Another staring contest.

The kitten walked closer to the baby's feet and gently rubbed her fur along them. This made the baby giggle.

"Oh, how cute, She likes the kitten" the Parents said.

The kitten went back and forth along the baby's feet a couple of times and each time, the baby giggled.

And then the baby stopped.

And then the baby started crying again. Loud! The baby cried so loud that the kitten got scared and jumped in the air with it's fur sticking up like they just saw a ghost!

The kitten ran away fast between the boxes as the baby kept crying.

"Oh no, we still need a bottle!" the Parents said. "Well, maybe we can just run to the store and buy some new ones. I'm sure it won't take long."

"Okay, that sounds like a good idea." They said, "But where are the car keys?"

Uh oh, now the Parents didn't know where the the car keys were!

And in the meantime... the baby was still crying!

In another other room, the kitten had been scared so far away from the baby's crying, that it ended up between lots of unpacked items on the floor. And as the kitten was trying to find a way out of the room, it found something. Something that could be very, very helpful to the Parents. It found a bottle!

The kitty used it's paws to slide the bottle across the floor and towards the kitchen - where the baby was.

And then the baby stopped crying again.

The Parents came to the baby to see why it stopped crying and they saw the little kitten there sitting next to the bottle on the floor. They looked at each other and said "Did the kitten find the baby bottle? What a kind kitty!"

The Parents picked up the bottle and took it to the kitchen to prepare it for the baby.

Meanwhile, the kitten sat and stared at the baby. And the baby stared at the kitten. Do you think the baby knows that the kitten found her bottle?

The baby smiled and giggled at the kitten.

and the kitten meowed for the first time... it meowed a happy meow.

Way to go, Kitty! You saved the day!
